KYOTO SHINSENGUMI TEPPANYAKI SET DINNER
Sagano Japanese Restaurant is presenting “Kyoto Shinsengumi Teppanyaki Set Dinner” in memory of the brave warriors of the ancient capital of Japan, Kyoto.
Back in the late Edo period (1800s), the uprising anti-government force caused movements that threatened the security of the country and the existence of Emperor Komei (1831 – 1867). To protect the people and the Emperor, the last samurai organization “Shinsengumi” was founded, with members selected from only the best of the best warriors of the country. Legend has it that the injured warriors would spend most of their time in the kitchen to prepare food for their fellow warriors who went to the battlefield. Using only two simple and affordable ingredients – rice and garlic, they created Shinsengumi Rice to keep the warriors warm during winter and at their best state for battle. This dish had won the hearts of the Emperor and the people because of the effort, time and technique to cook it.
Sagano has always been striving to serve authentic Japanese cuisine and bring the ancient traditions of Japan to our guests. Master Chef Masahiko Noka has spent months researching to create the “Kyoto Shinsengumi Teppanyaki Set Dinner” which blends with traditional Kyoto cooking. At the center of the menu is the crispy and fragrant Shinsengumi fried rice with minced garlic which takes around 20 minutes to cook right on the griddle. Other not-to-be-missed teppanyaki dishes include grilled Taraba crab legs, grilled Japanese black pork skewer, sirloin with teriyaki sauce and assorted Kyoto vegetables. Also on the menu are appetizer, assorted sashimi and dessert. The set dinner is priced at HK$998 per person. Tickets are available for purchase and a complimentary glass of plum sake or soft drink will be offered to ticket holders.
