Hotel Nikko Hongkong takes great pride in the role it has played in pioneering the following green initiatives in the hotel industry in Hong Kong:

• Use of energy-efficient equipment, including energy-saving light bulbs and the installation of a water control device.
• Use of environment-friendly paper and cleaning products.
• Minimizing the use of natural resources through computerisation of internal communications, with all documents stored in and forwarded via an internal e-mail system.
• Audit and inspection by external, registered EMS auditor, conducted twice a year to ensure compliance of elements of the system with ISO 14001 standards.
• Plastic bottle recycling programme
• Minimization of water pollution through close monitoring of the sewage treatment tank.
• Liaison with Hong Kong Polytechnic University to provide opportunities for students to study and practise the conservation of energy and water at our hotel.
• Establishment of a scholarship to encourage students who demonstrate outstanding performance in environmental projects.
• Establishment of an award scheme to acknowledge employees' ideas for the continued conservation of energy and natural resources
