Fancy a spot of barbecuing in five-star luxury? Sagano, the Japanese restaurant at Hotel Nikko Hongkong, is offering a do-it-yourself charcoal-grilled set dinner from now.
Nestling in air-conditioned comfort whilst looking out on Victoria Harbour by night, you can enjoy cooking pieces of beef, tuna belly, ox-tongue, prawn, taro, mushroom over a dainty charcoal grill. You can also relish other dishes such as a deep-fried pork, scallop and asparagus skewer as well as assorted sushi and sashimi.
Bringing an almost poetic dimension to the meal is the complimentary glass of shouchu, which literally translates to "burnt liquor". Not to be confused with sake, which is a brewed rice wine with a distinctly fruity taste, shouchu is a distilled alcoholic beverage with a nutty or earthy flavour and is often dubbed "Japanese Vodka".
Sipping shouchu whilst preparing and enjoying the charcoal-grilled set dinner thus makes a fitting combination – and a decidedly unique option for dining the Japanese way.
The dinner set costs HK$500 person, and is available every evening. To reserve a table, please call Sagano at 2313 4215 or visit the restaurant on the 1st floor of Hotel Nikko Hongkong, 72 Mody Road, Tsimshatsui East, Kowloon.
