Embarking on the implementation of Hong Kong's first energy and water conservation programmes in 1992, Hotel Nikko successfully achieved ISO 14001 certification in 1999 - the first Nikko hotel to receive such accreditation under this worldwide standard for environmental management systems, issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Compliance with ISO 14001 standardization is proof of Hotel Nikko Hongkong's commitment to environmental protection, providing an independent and objective measure of our will to integrate environment-friendly services in our business. It likewise provides statistical confirmation of our efforts to conserve resources through energy and waste management.

To foster greater environmental consciousness and change in Hong Kong, Hotel Nikko has also, via a sizeable contribution, joined Friends of the Earth's 2008-09 Earth Partners programme as a Saturn corporate member, the second highest participation tier.

What's more, in May 2008 Hotel Nikko Hongkong received official certification for its compliance with the Clean Air Charter jointly stipulated by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong Business Coalition on the Environment and the Business Environment Council.
